Family

Accompanying family members procedure

Ricongiungimento con familiare al seguito

It applies when the applicant wishes to travel to Italy together with her/his family member/s.

It requires the applicant to:

  • have a delegated person in Italy who can apply on his/her behalf (the delegated person can be the host organization or an Italian, Eu citizen or Non Eu citizen holding a valid permit of stay)
  • have already got the visa for Italy (in case of study visa, that has to be of 1 year)
  • make an appointment with the Italian embassy/consulate to fill out a proxy that has to be translated and legalized by the Italian embassy and then sent to Italy to the delegated person

The request for entry clearance (nulla osta) is made by a delegated person in Italy on behalf of the applicant once he/she has received the proxy (the original document).

The procedure for the entry clearance should take maximum 90 days.

Here follows the main steps of the procedure, for further details please contact your host organization or Welcome Office FVG.

What to do by the applicant in his/her country

  1. Find a delegated person in Italy who applies for Nulla Osta on your behalf (the host organization, an Italian, Eu citizen or Non Eu citizen holding a valid permit of stay)
  2. Contact the Italian Embassy or Consulate for the translation and legalization of the proxy required for “ricongiungimento familiare al seguito” (Form MODS4). Additional documentation could be asked.
  3. Send the proxy (the original) to the delegated person in Italy

What to do by the delegated person in Italy

  2. After the online request, the delegated person will be informed about the interview at Sportello unico immigrazione to collect Nulla Osta. He/she must bring the originals of the submitted documentation, the revenue stamp of €16,00 used for the online application and another revenue stamp of €16.
  3. Send a copy of Nulla Osta to the applicant who need to contact the Italian Embassy to apply for the entry visa for accompanying family members.
