International School for Advanced Studies - SISSA

The Joint Master's Degree programme in Physics (2nd level degree - Laurea magristrale) is promoted by the International School for Advanced Studies (SISSA) and the University of Trento (UniTN).

It aims at providing students with an advanced education in Theoretical Physics, that should serve as a strong ground for a future attendance to PhD courses, both in Italian and foreign universities.

Students will be involved in an international, stimulating research environment, with the possibility of interacting on an everyday basis with the faculty members and research personnel of the two institutions.

What about the programme?
The two-year programme foresees mandatory and elective courses ranging from Experimental Methods (Advanced), Nuclear and Subnuclear Physics (Advanced) to Quantum Mechanics, etc.

Students will spend the first year at UniTN, the first semester of the second year at SISSA and the last semester at the institution where the tutor operates to perform their research activity under the supervision of a tutor and a co-tutor nominated by UniTN (Trento-Italy) and the other by SISSA (Trieste-Italy).

Courses are followed by exams. Students are expected to defend a final dissertation at the end of their study path.

How to apply?
Applicants are invited to use the on-line system to submit the application form.  Be aware that different deadlines are scheduled for EU citizens and non-EU citizens.

Further information can be asked to the Secretariat of the Joint Master of Science in Physics with SISSA at the University of Trento, Department of Physics (Ph: +39 0461 28 3237 - 3236 - 3247 - 1864; e-mail: masterphysics@unitn.it).

Things to know
