An Italian or foreign citizen residing in Italy (if foreign, they may also reside abroad) who has been temporarily living in the Municipality for at least 4 months (at least 3 months for EU citizens), and who is unable to establish a permanent residence ('residenza permanente') for reasons that must be specified and properly documented (e.g., study, work, health, family), may apply for registration in the Register of the Temporary Population.

This kind of registration is valid for 12 months only. It might be renewed for another period of time provided that the conditions are still met.

The request form can be submitted by hand, by email or by registered e-mail (PEC).

When appliying, specify that you want to be registered as temporary resident (Anagrafe della popolazione temporanea). 

The documentation to be provided is the same as that required for permanent residence registration.
